CCT conducts extensive field studies to document traditional crafts, capturing techniques, materials, and processes through photographs, videos, and detailed written records. We work directly with master artisans to preserve their knowledge for future generations.
Our documentation includes comprehensive technical analysis of craft processes, raw materials, tools, and traditional methods. This systematic approach helps preserve intricate details that might otherwise be lost as traditional crafts face modernization challenges.
Documented craft knowledge is shared through publications, exhibitions, workshops, and digital platforms. This ensures that traditional craft techniques remain accessible to researchers, designers, students, and craft practitioners worldwide, fostering continued appreciation and innovation.
We have commenced an ambitious 5-year initiative to document the crafts and textiles of Telangana. Currently in Phase 1, we are working in Warangal District in collaboration with students from the Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD), Jaipur, to systematically record and preserve the region's rich craft heritage.
